Mackenna Cleary on what we can expect from Orange is the New Black Season 4

The question everyone really wants to know is, how are the sex scenes?
You know, they aren't terrible. It's just like really fun choreography. Laura and I are pretty comfortable with each other now. That will happen with three seasons under our belts, right? It's a walk in the park now. We are each other's "fucking sex cows" apparently. My mother refuses to watch the show, after the first one. I guess I hadn't totally warned her when the first one came around and she still hasn't forgiven me.

But so far so good?
Well, almost. Last season I was taking my shirt off in a very heat-of-the-moment kind of thing, and the nametag I was wearing kind of came off and I got stabbed by the safety pin. So it was super embarassing and I had to go the medic for an hour. All in the name of pretend getting laid.

What is like having such an awesome squad?
Honestly, it's amazing. Production of the show is in New York and I get to stay in the city which I love. I'm a creature of habit, so being able to go home and sleep in my own bed is kind of incredible. But since we're all in New York, we all go out together, and go out to eat as a massive group and wander around mueseums when we have days off. We have cook outs and honestly it's such a crazy close bond that we have all formed that I have never been happier to be a part of a show like this.

What is with your beef with social media? Your last tweet was from last year when season 3 was released on Netflix, and before that it was raving about the Tony nominations.
We have a weird relationship, Twitter and I... We're in therapy trying to get over our differences. I don't know, social media is a tricky beast. There are so many people with a Twitter handle who expect so much out of people in the public eye. I don't get how to interact with people on social media, it just makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable. People get demanding and weird about things like book opinions or where you ate dinner, they want to know what kind of lipstick you were wearing that day or whether or not you and all of your costars are fucking each other. It's invasive and I'm not into participating in the Age of Oversharing. Maybe one day, I guess.

What can we expect from Piper in Season 4? As much as you can tell us, anyway.
Piper has found her groove again, or at least for now. She is slowly becoming a little bit of a kingpin at Litchfield. She's getting her swagger back. Well, kind of. Piper will be trying on all of these different hats like she owns the fucking place, and we'll see how that works out.
